"In football, halftime isn’t just a break in the ninety minutes of playing time. It’s a chance to reflect on what’s been achieved and prepare for what’s ahead."
HALFTIME
ABOUT
In the same way, this magazine honors the unseen halves of every women’s football game: early morning gym sessions, juggling work and practice, recovery from injuries, and the spirit of quiet persistence that rejects doubt and inequality to champion community and performance.
Women’s football in Hong Kong is about courage and passion. It’s about athletes, coaches, and staff who constantly balance studies, jobs, and families while still giving everything they have to the sport they love. These are the stories we want to tell at HALFTIME: stories that remind us that football is a sport that’s truly lived in. As the first magazine in Hong Kong dedicated to women’s football, each issue of HALFTIME will highlight a different player’s football journey, from their early days to the professional stage, spotlighted alongside other pieces showcasing the lives and legacies that sustain the sport today.
HALFTIME was created in partnership with WISE (Women In Sports Empowered Hong Kong Limited), whose mission to empower, educate and connect women and girls through sports aligns perfectly with our own. Together, we hope to illuminate stories that would otherwise go untold and to build a community where every player feels seen and supported.
WISE
ABOUT
Women In Sports Empowered Hong Kong Limited (WISE) uses programs on sports and movement to help improve teen girls’ interest and enthusiasm for being active, which results in them understanding their bodies better and growing in confidence and leadership.
Although WISE uses sports as a tool to teach its lessons, the organization's goal is not for the students to become professional athletes. WISE believes that using movement and the life lessons learned through sports—about how to take care of bodies and emotions—improves physical and mental health for many years to come.
Most of WISE's programs take place in secondary schools throughout Hong Kong, and the organization has the privilege of partnering with many wonderful organizations who provide volunteering and financial support throughout the year. For more information, visit www.wisewomenhk.org
